K-1 is a promotion of kickboxing with base in Japan. Besides kickboxing, K-1 combines technologies(skills) that come from diverse sports and martial arts (in Frenchman Boxes pieds-poings) as Muay Thai, Karate, Taekwondo, Kickboxing, Savate, Boxing... The K-1 was created by Kazuyoshi Ishii who in 1980 formed(trained) the organization Seidokaikan Karate in the city of Osaka. The Seidokaikan karate organized numerous combats against other schools of martial arts, using rules based on those of the Kyokushin Knockdown, though gradually they were adapting these rules to those of the kickboxing. In 1993, Kazuyoshi Ishii founds the organization K-1, and in this year Grand Prix celebrates the K-1 in the Stadium Yoyogui. The organization of K-1 is headed nowadays by the " Fighting and Entertainment Group " (FEG) of Japan and the event mas important is the K-1 World Grand Prix.
