Israel "Iz" Kamakawiwo'ole (May 20, 1959 - June 26, 1997) was a Hawaiian musician. It was born in the island Oahu, was raised in the community Kaimuki in Waikiki's suburbs where his parents were living. At the age of 11 it started touching musical instruments together with his major brother Skippy. During his adolescence, Sam Gray and Jerome Koko changed with his family to Makaha, where it knew Louis "Moon" Kauakahi, who together with his brother Skippy there formed the group Children Makaha de Ni'ihau. Little by little from 1976y along them 80's, the group was gaining popularity in Hawái and in the rest of the United States.
